Golden Circle is the ‘place to be’

I recently moved back to Ennis, my hometown, and have spent days driving around the area trying to reacquaint myself with my hometown. As I work at getting reacquainted, my goal is to work in the community and help where I can. Children and seniors are my people. I taught 42 years, and with that in mind, I am geared to children. But in talking to a friend I was amazed at the program for seniors at this place. The name is Ennis Golden Circle Activity Center, and while there, I found out why it is so named. The calendar of events that take them Monday through Friday each week include activities such as fellowship, exercise, games, praise/worship, sermons, Bible study, music, bingo, movies, birthday celebrations, visits to nursing homes, crafts, home-cooked meals with breakfast and lunch served daily, and H-E-B trips on Wednesday and Thursday; and bus service for those who need it. If you are looking for a place to meet and make new friends, and if you’re a senior, come share with us. One other activity we want to share about the Golden Circle Center is the one and only fundraiser of the year. It is a four-man scramble golf benefit set to take place May 18 at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. If you want to be part of the event or make a donation to the center, please call Ms. Celestina Haubert Oliver at 972-875-6101. As a retired teacher who loves to work with seniors, this is the “PLACE TO GO.” please give Ms. Oliver a call and come check us out.
