It was only a test


So this week, Wednesday at 1:18 p.m. in fact, the POTUS took the time to contact me on my cell phone. Twice in fact. Of course, I was busy and only glanced to see who had dialed me up. It was not the all-powerful Oz behind a curtain with a microphone and special effects, it was President 45 and no, he wasn’t firing from his Twitter. Lisa Lowe, the fearless globetrotter who doubles as a vice principal in Ennis, burst my bubble at the Prestage Fan Fest on Thursday when she informed me that I am nobody special, that everybody in the country got the same treatment. But what does she know? Evidently a lot. Many of us remember those emergency broadcast warning announcements on radio and television, a system used from 1963 to 1997. It was replaced by the Emergency Alert System. The President at the time, (D) John F. Kennedy initiated the system as a method to notify the public in the event of war, threat of war or grave national crisis. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
