Letting my son pursue his passion is fun for this dad

I really miss watching my son Micah play baseball. But he is pursuing other activities now, musical ones to be exact and I couldn’t be happier for him. Because he seems to be happy, that is why I am. There are some things I miss about watching him on game days. He was a really good catcher. But I don’t miss the four nights of practice or the traveling all across North Texas to watch games all weekend long. Don’t get me wrong, I loved watching him play anytime he was on the field. There is no doubt sports create friendship among teammates and a camaraderie that can’t be matched. Micah was playing almost year-round here in Texas, when one day he made a snap decision that he would not be returning to play baseball. I was filled with many emotions. My first thought was, “Well he can’t just quit. Maybe he will take up another sport, or at least try out for the baseball team at our local high school.” But it was then I had to step back and remind myself that he just wasn’t as passionate about sports as he was when he was little.
