Life is way too short to bicker about who is the sole breadwinner

We were all raised differently, each and every one of us. Some of us had a traditional up-bringing. We had a mother and a father. And for the most part they both worked. My up-bringing was a little different. I lived with my mom, grandmother and grandfather. There was no single breadwinner in the house. My grandmother was a nurse; my grandfather also worked at the same hospital, and my mom was a switchboard operator. For the most part of I remember all three of them holding jobs while I lived at home. Like a lot of single parents, my mom was always at my soccer and baseball games on the weekend. I also remember my mom and grandmother preparing and cooking most meals. I never had a father, although my grandfather was my father figure. This was normal for me. It wasn’t until I got older and would visit a friend’s house that had both a mom and dad to realize, like most families they both work, but it never dawned on me who might be making more in a relationship. Things have changed drastically since those days, when it comes to income. Today my wife makes more than I do, and I am all right with that. I am proud of her and it has been a blessing to see the strides she has made in her career. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
