Mark Warde – I’ll tell you what!! – The Luck of Black-Eyed Peas

New Year’s Day found me hunkered down and watching bowl games while snarfing down blackeyed peas and cornbread. Yum! Not just because they are traditionally Southern for bringing good luck in the coming year, but because they are some kind of good eatin’! Some of the best statements ever made are about luck. In the same way a farmer found a horse shoe on a dirt road, picked it up and nailed it above the doorway to his barn as a lucky icon, so have people taken fast to theories of good luck. Ray Kroc, of McDonald’s fame, once said “luck is a dividend of sweat. The more you sweat, the luckier you get.” Similarly, Ben Franklin was quoted as having said: “Diligence is the mother of good luck.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
