October is Czech Heritage Month

You don’t have to tell Ennis residents about the city’s Czech history. It’s something we all know about and are proud of, whether we are Czech ourselves or just warmed by the traditions with which most of us are familiar as friends and neighbors of families with Czechoslovakian roots. The Texas Legislature long ago declared October Czech Heritage Month across our state. Throughout the month, Czech festivals are held almost everywhere in Texas. Texans of Czech ancestry take considerable and understandable pride in sharing with the rest of us their contributions to art, music, literature and other customs that are now a big part of our state’s diverse culture.
