Of the creative process, sailors, and liberty ports

It is Monday and I am sitting here at my desk staring at a blank screen on my trusted laptop. This laptop has been with me for many years and has never let me down on providing the impetus for writing ideas. And so, I continue staring at the screen. I have thought about writing on my experiences while being a sailor in the United States Navy. Some of the stories I cannot tell and others I won’t tell. A few have a rating of PG-13, though. Like the time I went golfing with my brothers-in-arms in Puerto Rico. I launched a really, really good drive off the tee that suddenly took a sharp left turn and ended up in the ocean just off the fairway. As I remember, it was a treacherous climb down a 12-foot vertical drop to reach the beach near where we all agreed that my ball splashed down after re-entry. I never found the ball, but, looking out into the ocean, I saw a little island that looked vaguely familiar.
