I remember the day the husband’s older brother said to me, “Susan, oh Susan, this you need to learn: we Lincolns aren’t slaves to fashion.” Since he was wearing a hideous, stretched-out-shirt and faded athletic shorts, I thought he was clearly stating the obvious, and I was completely unimpressed.
