Opinions are like navels


When it comes to opinions, they tend to be like navels. We all have one. Innies, outies, T-shaped, ovals and more. Researchers have discovered over 1,400 different strains of bacteria lurking in them, not to mention piercings and the fact they have a tendency to collect lint. As for opinions, well, the degree they range varies by the person. Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) said it well: “The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions.”Today’s televised newscasts, radio personalities and social media are driven by opinions. We would all do ourselves a big favor by understanding that opinions are not facts, and it doesn’t matter who says differently. Preachers, teachers, creatures, coaches, parents, and anyone with a platform, political, religious, or those who have microphones, Twitter accounts or keyboards. None of us have a corner on the truth. We have now learned the news media, especially of the mainstream variety, not only makes mistakes, but some of the major brands do it intentionally.
