State budget cuts already coming

The loss of an Ennis-based contact station for information about Social Security benefits represents what is likely the first salvo of local service losses given the state of state and federal budgets.

While federal officials believe that expanded online and phone options for service for the local area are an adequate substitute for the ability to have face-to-face information exchange locally, it’s not quite that cut and dry.
