Study closely cost of EMS

When people need an ambulance service, they want it to perform in two ways – a quick response to the scene, and an effective treatment en route to a trauma or medical center. Few folks stop to consider the cost when they summon that type of help.

CareFlite currently provides emergency medical services to Ennis. It took over in March, when East Texas Medical Center stopped providing the service. The city of Ennis is measuring the performance of CareFlite, as the agreement with the private provider expires within the year. The city has to determine whether it will retain CareFlite, find a different service, or, as proposed by Ennis Fire Chief Jeff Aycock, go into the business itself through its fire department.
