Tax increase might not be that bad

Nobody wants more taxes. Least of all, people who live in conservative Texas.

News that the city might ask residents for a sales tax increase probably did not come across as good news to many in town. In fact, there’s enough Tea Party activity in this community to spell doom for any city commissioners who OK a tax hike proposal to the voters.

We should point out that no city commission vote has been taken to present a tax hike for road repair and public safety (police and fire). This won’t happen until later in the year, if it happens at all.
