The eccentricities of April weather this year may reshape what is looked at as odd. The wind has been unquestionably stiffer than last year, as has the persistence of the statewide drought that fuels fires and kills crops. It’s been a standout month.

This week brought what is perhaps the most intimidating feature of the Texas spring. Tornado weather has a peculiar haunt about it, a certain kind of gravity that heightens the senses and makes us perk up, look and listen. The oddly colored, thickly spread clouds are ominous no matter when you see them.
