Yearbooks and radish gardens


I happened upon my senior yearbook the other day, and decided to have a look-see, especially because of the troubles yearbooks have been causing in political circles around the nation. I am here to report: I was boring then, too. There is absolutely nothing that I could find which would keep me from serving as a supreme court justice. Or a governor. Or a state senator. Go ahead: nominate me. Surely there are skeletons, but apparently they were buried so deeply that a casual observer wouldn’t stumble upon them, or I’m so old they’ve disintegrated entirely. I took a moment to give thanks for that. Then I returned mentally to the year 2019: holding elected officials responsible for behavior back in the day when they were using Clearasil and wearing ridiculously small basketball shorts seems more than a little bit ludicrous.
