Poor communication on Ennis Avenue widening project

Dear Editor:

Tuesday morning City of Ennis workers suddenly appeared in many vehicles and removed the Turn of the Century street lights from the north side of the 300, 400, 500 and 600 blocks of West Ennis Avenue. Some were street lights that I was required to purchase from the City when they were installed.

A City worker said Tex Dot will soon begin to widen Ennis Avenue and add turn lanes on Preston, Sherman and McKinney.  Will that really stop the back-up at the two short blocks of downtown now that they have been reduced to two lanes again? Most locals I know already avoid the 100 and 200 blocks of West Ennis Avenue at high traffic times.
