Ennis performer goes beyond borders


Local actress Sandra Wakefield will go to New York to perform for the Christian Embassy, a religious entity of the United Nations since 1980. Known as a gifted thespian and singer, Sandra Wakefield has played her share of parts in musicals and plays. This week it is her audience that is due the attention. The international Christian Embassy, an entity of the United Nations, is a non-governmental organization that provides spiritual encouragement to the diplomat community in New York City. The group is a non-political, non-denominational and non-profit serving the UN since 1980. “In short, their mission is to provide spiritual resources that can enrich lives, both personally and professionally,” said Wakefield. The embassy offers classes for diplomats as well as one called “Transitions” for the wives of diplomats. Four times a year it hosts teas for women. The one this month that Wakefield has been invited will include dishes from the nations of the diplomat’s wives, each prepared by them.
