Planting and growing irises

I know many people locally who grow irises, and admire them in their gardens every late spring to early summer. The iris is named for the Greek goddess who rode astride rainbows, and the colors of the flower are appropriately colorful. You will enjoy having it in your garden. It’s hardy and pretty easy to maintain, otherwise this lazy gardener wouldn’t bother. They are a magnet for butterflies and hummingbirds, and you will love making arrangements with the cuttings from this beauty. Irises need at least a half day of sun and they like a well drained soil. They often prefer a slightly acidic soil. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
