Summertime and the Iris


I know it’s still spring and I don’t want to hurry it along, I love it so. But I also love summer or, I should say, I love summer flowers – especially the Iris, one of my favorites. I can’t think of that time of the year without remembering my mother’s irises. Beautiful lavender ones and a kind whose name I can’t recall. It was lovely, partly pink, partly yellow, and I remember it blossoming around my birthday in June. What gardener doesn’t love the iris?
