The quickest ticket to heaven

Our conscious need for mercy is our real boarding pass. The ego does not like that very much, but the soul fully understands. Perhaps it wasn’t different from Jesus’ time. The issues have varied a bit, but we still hear the “who’s out and who’s in” among the followers of Jesus. Some ask Jesus, “Lord, will only a few be saved?” From the context, it sounds like the person wants to be able to have those tidy labels, whether they are based on a person’s ethnicity, gender or belief. Jesus doesn’t seem to have much patience with the question. To paraphrase it is as if Jesus is saying, “Just aim for the narrow gate.” Assume you are an outsider and try the best you can. Don’t try to assess who’s in and who’s not in. Don’t even go there. Don’t waste your time on all that because you’re not going to be able to figure it out. “The last will be first and the first will be last.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
