Residents remark on now-viral restaurant name change

With an eye toward building its lunch and dinner business, International House of Pancakes has changed their name by one letter, from IHOp to IHOb, switching the ‘p’ to a ‘b.’ Only Vanna White has made a more famous splash by flipping letters. “We’re flippin’ from pancakes, pancakes, pancakes to burgers, burgers, burgers,” the company announced on Monday. Known for their pancakes, the chain, which has 1,650 restaurants – including two in Ellis County, Ennis and Waxahachie, is now releasing seven “Ultimate Steakburgers” in its rebranding effort. Not to worry, the breakfast items will remain on the menu. Announcing a week ago they would alter the name, speculation ranged from what the ‘B’ would stand for to whether there would be a change at all. “I thought they’d change it to ‘brunch,” said Alixandria Dillard, 20, of Ennis. “I don’t get it. I think they missed the mark.” “It should be ‘breakfast,’” added John Farmer, 21, also from Ennis. “It just feels like a breakfasty place.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
