Ennis High fall baseball update

The Ennis High varsity and JV fall baseball teams would like to thank all the fans who came out to watch a four-game sweep of Arlington Martin and Burleson this past Saturday. Martin took a 1-0 lead in the first game against Ennis, but the Lions responded with seven-straight runs in a 7-4 win. The Lions scored at least one run in five of six innings – showing their ability to execute squeeze bunts, sac flies and simply ripping the baseball into the gap.
Game two against Martin was about excellent pitching and defense as Ennis came away with a 7-1 win. Ennis went back and fourth in game one against Burleson, trailing as late as 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth. With Ennis up 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and a full count in a bases-loaded situation, pitcher Austin Fry threw a perfect pitch on the outside corner to force a ground ball and seal the win. Burleson never recovered from that tough loss as Ennis rolled in the second game 10-2. The Lions’ fall teams are sponsored by Ennis’ Elite Athlete training facility.

U12 Ennis Stars rolling early on
The U12 Ennis Stars soccer team notched its second victory of the season early last week with an 8-0 blowout of the Red Oak Cyclones, scoring four goals in each half. This past weekend, the Stars looked to make it 3-0 against the Duncanville Knights.
The Knights came out aggressive right from the start, but maybe too aggressive as two Knight goals were nullified due to offside calls. The Stars blasted two quality shots of their own, which were saved by the Knight keeper. Coming out of a 0-0 first half, Chris Cazares caught fire in the second half with three goals for a 3-0 final result. The Stars will now face the Red Oak Flames this Saturday.
In other results, the U12 Ennis Pumas recently defeated Waxahachie 6-0 while the U10 girls Ennis Cosmos topped the Duncanville Eagles 5-2.
