Join us in honoring our local veterans

Veteran’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, Nov. 11 and on that day the Ennis Daily News will publish our annual Salute To Veterans special section.
This is one of the most popular sections we publish each year and we’re heartened by this community’s response to it. Each year we receive new photos of local veterans to be printed in this publication. If you have submitted a photo for publication in the past, there’s no need to resubmit it, since we already have it on file.
This year, the Ennis Daily News is also partnering with local businesses to provide one lucky local veteran with a special thank you gift package from the community. We are asking veterans from our area to come by our office to register for a prize drawing that will be held the week before Veteran’s Day. The winner of the drawing will be announced in the Sunday, Nov. 11 edition of the Ennis Daily News.
The local business community has really stepped up to honor those who have served our country so faithfully. Already, they have donated hundreds of dollars worth of items including free hotel rooms, gift certificates, movie passes and other goodies.
Our nation and our community owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans that can never be adequately repaid. But we hope our Salute to Veterans and this year’s gift drawing will serve as a token of our appreciation and an indication of just how much our veterans’ service means to us.
If your business would like to donate an item to the gift drawing, please call the Ennis Daily News at 972-875-3801. And if you are a local veteran, don’t forget to come by our office between now and Nov. 2 to register for the drawing. It’s just one more way we can all say thank you to the men and women who have been willing to protect our freedom and our way of life.
