County transportation forum set for Thursday

The Ellis County Commissioners’ Court invites the public to attend an educational and informational transportation forum on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Waxahachie Civic Center.
Light refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting opening at 7 p.m.
“We really are at a crossroads when it comes to transportation,” said County Judge Chad Adams. “Whether we like it or not, we are growing, and we are part of a larger region that is growing fast. We need to understand the impact of regional transportation planning, and we need to participate fully in that planning process.”
First up in the meeting will be Commissioner Ron Brown, pct. 4. Brown is a long-time member of the Regional Transportation Council.
“This is something that requires wisdom and planning,” Brown said. “If we are going to have transportation infrastructure that meets our needs in the future, we are all going to have to put our heads together and be part of the planning.”
Others to speak include Michael Morris, Director of Transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments; Bill Hale, Texas Department of Transportation District Engineer; and Leslie Jutzi, Director of Governmental Affairs and Community Relations for The Allen Group.
“It cannot be said too often that we need to hear from our constituents, not only to know what they are thinking, but to have the benefit of their experience and wisdom, if we are going to make good, sound decisions for Ellis County,” said Adams. “Transportation is certainly a topic that will require broad based community involvement – and we are hoping to see many members of the community at the Transportation Crossroads meeting.”
