Cook Ctr. Ball in 4th year

The fourth annual “Moonlight and Magnolias” Antebellum Ball will be held at the Cook Education Center on Jan. 19, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The event includes a catered dinner, tours of the Pearce Collections Museum, a Civil War era dance, and a silent auction.
This year’s ball is sponsored by the PCW Museum, the J.L. Halbert Camp, #359 Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Val Verde Camp, #36, TSOCR.
Period band “Time Was” will perform traditional music on the mountain dulcimer, the hammered dulcimer, and other traditional instruments.
“Time Was” performs a mix of old time fiddle tunes, Celtic music, humorous folk and historic songs, hymns, and gospel music.
Through their use of toe-tapping music, unusual instruments and amusing stories, they entertain audiences of all ages.
They also like to explain the origin of both their instruments and the songs they perform. Audience participation is frequently encouraged and questions are always welcomed.
A caller will guide the audience through the Virginia Reel, the Corsicana Waltz, and other dances.
Individuals or couples wishing to attend are asked to dress in period, formal, or semi-formal attire.
For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact the Pearce Collections Museum at (903) 875-7438 or 1-800-988-5317 by January 12, 2007.
Tickets are $25 per person. Seating is limited and reservations are required. No tickets will be sold at the door.
