Boys & Girls Club is a local blessing

Ennis is fortunate to have such an active and flourishing Boys and Girls Club where children can get together after school in a safe, fun and educational environment.
The national slogan for the Boys and Girls Clubs is “The Positive Place for Kids,” and here in Ennis that certainly holds true. As we reported Monday, the Ennis club is offering several new programs for the 100-plus children who visit the facility each day. The newest program, “Triple Play,” seeks to teach the kids to be well rounded by focusing on mind, body and soul.
We applaud this innovative and in-depth approach to helping the youth in our area and we hope to see more local students taking advantage of all the Boys and Girls Club has to offer.
The club fills an important need in our area by helping to provide positive influences for children who might otherwise be left alone in the afternoons. In this day and age when most parents are working when their children get out of school, the Boys and Girls Club is a much-needed safe haven.
As a non-profit organization, the club is always in need of support from the people in our community.
There are countless ways that you can help the club and donating your time as a volunteer is one of the best. It not only helps the children by providing another positive adult role model, but it’s rewarding for the volunteer as well.
Working with our youth is a gift that is often as beneficial for the adult as it is for the child.
Right now, the Ennis Boys and Girls Club is gearing up for its Coed Basketball League season and there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with this program. Call the club at 972-878-1543 for more information.
The Boys and Girls Club is a success story because of the work and dedication of people in our community just like you.
We hope to see more local residents get involved and reap the blessings of helping our local youth.
