Kiwanians share a little holiday joy

Through the combined efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Ennis, Key Club and Super 1 Foods each resident of the Senior Citizens Apartments, located at 501 W. Lampasas St., received a special Christmas package Thursday filled with canned foods and a frozen hen.
Every year the Kiwanis and Key Club members, along with Don Howard of Super 1 Foods, fill the boxes with donated items and go door-to-door delivering presents and holiday cheer to residents.
The veterans who show up each year to assist with the food drive tipped Key Club members off that some female residents expect a holiday hug after receiving their Christmas package, with which they said they were more than willing to comply. In the past residents have been so grateful they give “thank you” cards to their delivery person.
The Spirit of Christmas Food Drive is an annual project for the Kiwanis Club of Ennis and Super 1 Foods.
