Music to the ears, Ennis Opry style

It might not be the Grand Ole Opry but maybe that’s a good thing.
The Ennis Opry, which is actually located in Bardwell now, serves up good local talent in a laid-back, up-close atmosphere that’s drawing crowds from across North Texas.
The Ennis Daily News loves this kind of thing because it has local color splashed all over it.
Matt Cook’s front-page story today about the country playhouse gives insight into the making of a small-town opry.
“It’s entertainment for the whole family,” founder and host Russell Bailey tells Cook.
“It’s real close-knit. People show up early just to visit in the audience. The artists are entertaining. It’s real personable. You get to be real close up to what’s going on.”
The Ennis Daily News wants to give a hand to Bailey, the Ennis Opry Band and the other musicians who are working to make this musical experiment really sing: Jake Kassen, Jim Venable, Devin Banfor, Fred Hayes, Jody Thomas, Joe Nonea, Robert Stedman, Chuck Wiginton, Ron Sikes and Zanada Tally.
These and other acts are providing great music for their audiences as well contributing to the breadth of local culture in Ellis County.
Bravo, Ennis Opry!
