Ennis men, brave and true

At last evening’s meeting of Honor Flight of Ellis County, the group that’s sponsoring a trip for local World War II veterans to the memorial in their honor in Washington, D.C., military historian Alex Wensowitch displayed a copy of the Ennis Daily News “Heroes Edition,” published Aug. 22, 1944.
The servicemen featured on the front page are Emil Trojacek, one of the first local casualties of WWII, Edward Ventrca, Jack Boren, Robert Watkins, and Cecil, Oscar, Willard and Hubert Taylor.
