Twentieth Century Club holds brunch

The Twentieth Century Club met recently in the home of Conni Durbin, president of the organization for its 2006-08 session.
Hostess Durbin and co-hostesses, Bettye Moore, Anna Houx, JoAnn Cody, Jan McLelland, and Penny Atwood served a festive brunch to the twenty-four members present.
The tirelessly hard-working and multi-talented Durbin not only hosted the club’s recent brunch but presented the program.
Durbin called the meeting to order and led the pledges to the United States and Texas flags.
Mary Ann Kinzie gave the invocation. Secretary Virginia Lewis called the roll and read the minutes for the last meeting.
Business discussed included donations to the Ennis Public Library, Meals on Wheels of Ennis, Helping Hands, and the Volunteer Council of Terrell State Hospital for patient gifts.
Durbin’s Christmas-themed program inspired the group as she talked about the remarkable women in their lives. She talked of grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters, and girlfriends who are important to their families and friends.
She also talked about the very remarkable Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her legacy to the world.
The Twentieth Century Club meets the second Wednesday of the month from September through April.
Meetings are held in club members’ homes.
Officers for the current session are Conni Durbin, President; Janet Ward, Vice-President; Virginia Lewis, Recording Secretary; Kim Bibby, Treasurer; and Anna Houx, Corresponding Secretary.
