Kudos to VFW’s Charles Kelker

The Ennis Daily News congratulates Charles Kelker, commander of Ennis’ Jack Lummus VFW Post 7106, for the recent award he won from the Veteran’s County Service Officers Association.
Currently Kelker is assistant director for the Dallas region of the Veteran’s Association.
Kelker, longtime member and past president of the Ennis Kiwanis Club, is no stranger to good works. Under his leadership the city’s VFW supports a number of important community events and efforts. Among these are the annual Sweetheart Banquet, sponsored by the Christian Ministers Association, and the Honor Flight of Ellis County project that’s sending local World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorial erected in their honor there in 2004.
Kelker himself is a hero of the Korean and Vietnam Wars serving 27 years, including a tour of duty in Germany where he presided as commander of the Berlin VFW Post. His family continues his example of military service with a son on active duty in the Navy and a daughter in active duty in the Army.
We salute Kelker for his devotion to America and to the interests of veterans.
