‘Red’ Sanders announces Ennis City Council candidacy

Former police chief to run for for Ward 1 council position
James N. “Red” Sanders has announced his candidacy for the Ennis City Commission, Ward 1.
As former chief of police for the City of Ennis and patrol sergeant/officer, the workings of the Commission are familiar to Sanders. He was required to attend Commission meetings as Chief and he was faithful in that duty.
“It is my desire to represent the citizens of Ward 1,” Sanders said. “I pledge to attend meetings faithfully and serve to the best of my ability. I will be open to ideas and suggestions. The citizens of Ward 1 deserve a voice at City Hall, and I believe I can represent them fairly and honestly. Your vote would be greatly appreciated.”
Sanders has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with minors in management and agriculture. Married to the former Judy Kendall of Ennis for more than 47 years, the couple has three daughters and eight grandchildren.
Though Sanders was born and raised in Wyoming, he has called Ennis home for over 30 years. During that time, he was employed by the City of Ennis a total of approximately 13 years.
For the past seven years, he has been a self-employed barber, and is currently associated with Billy and Gene’s Barbershop in Ennis.
