Citizens urged to spay pets

Ennis City Animal Control asks public to make appointments
Today Ennis City Animal Control will mark the 14th Annual Spay Day USA.
The event was founded by the Doris Day Animal League (DDAL), which teamed with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) the following year to encourage every dog and cat owner to spay or neuter their pets.
Spaying or neutering protects the pet’s health, improves pet behavior and lessens the burden on animal shelters and taxpayers. Ennis Animal Control Officers are inviting citizens to make that important appointment to show the community they really care by having their pets spayed or neutered.
Cost of altering depends on the sex, size and health of the pet. Contact a veterinarian todayto learn more. Also, various rescue agencies offer spay/neutering programs. This is a one-time cost and a small price to pay for the future health of pets as well as prevention of the births of unwanted animals. For more information, call Ennis Animal Control at City Hall, 972-875-1234 or visit www.DDAL.org or www.HSUS.org.
