P&Z OKs adding 250 acres

Commission decides on multiple annexations
The Planning and Zoning Commission approved five annexations Monday night that totaled more than 250 acres of land.
The annexations included 42.62 acres adjacent to the intersection of E. Hwy. 34 and Sunridge Drive, 171.894 acres located on the west side of Oak Grove Road, north of the Hwy. 287 Bypass to the 3000 block of Oak Grove Road, 3.42 acres located on the east side of the 3500 block of Oak Grove Road, 42.462 acres located on the east side of the 3200-3500 block of Oak Grove Road and 4.95 acres located on the east side of the 3100 block of Oak Grove Road.
This was the third of four planned public hearings regarding these five annexations. A total of 50 notices were mailed to neighboring owners of the annexed land with zero notices returned.
There were no questions or comments regarding the annexations from the commissioners or citizens in attendance.
In other business, the Commission approved a Planned Development Site Plan modification with two conditions from the City Inspector to the signage outside the athletic training facility located at 110 S. Mulberry St. David Maliska represented the owners of the property and fielded questions from the commissioners.
The conditions included in the approval from a City Inspector’s memorandum stated that no additional wall paintings, murals, signs, awnings or other type of modification to the exterior of the building without the expressed approval of the city and the wall sign as submitted is mounted to the exterior wall in the approximate location demonstrated on the plan provided in the packet.
Maliska said there were no problems with following the conditions set forth by the city.
Commissioner Jerold Nichols abstained from voting on the issue, but the other commissioners present all approved the site plan.
Commissioners Dan Jansen and Glen Hejny were absent from the meeting.
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets every other Monday at 7:15 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
