Sunbeam Club has new venue

Popular railroad group celebrates 15th anniversary
Due to the closing of the Ennis Corral, the Southern Pacific Sunbeam Club meeting for March has been moved to the Grand Ennis Buffet, located at 201 S. I-45. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, followed by an important meeting.
The Sunbeam Club met at the Ennis Corral Tuesday, Jan. 8, in celebration of the New Year and the 15th anniversary of the club. The first SPSC meeting was held Jan. 11, 1993, at the invitation of Ralph Essary for retired railroaders and their families to gather at the Golden Corral for lunch and the sharing of memories.
This was such an exciting time that an official club was named and the first Tuesday of each month chosen for a meeting date. The club continues to bring railroaders, their families and friends together monthly.
The first Tuesday of February was on the fifth of the month, “Fat Tuesday,” and the Sunbeam Club celebrated Mardi Gras. Donning their Mardi Gras beads, the attendees lunched and fellowshipped together at the Ennis Corral.
All members are urged to attend the next (March 4) meeting and help in the planning of the club’s future meetings. The club is still active but due to the closing of the Ennis Corral it is necessary to make changes.
