Turn off that TV and visit our city parks

Now that spring has arrived and the weather is warming up, we’d like to encourage our readers to take advantage of our city parks.
Ennis is fortunate to have some beautiful outdoor areas where families can enjoy some exercise in a clean and safe environment. Some of the more popular local parks are Lions Park, Bluebonnet Park, Jaycee Park and Kiwanis Park.
Lions Park at the corner of Hall and Lampasas Streets recently got some new playground equipment for the kids to enjoy. The walking trail around the lake is always a popular place to stretch your legs and get some exercise while enjoying the scenery.
Both Jaycee and Kiwanis Park are located next to the City Lake on Park Street. Visitors can enjoy a walking path there as well, in addition to playground equipment. The lake provides a chance to wet a line or to feed some of the many ducks that call the spot home.
Bluebonnet Park features walking paths, a lake, playground equipment and baseball and softball fields that are very familiar to local little-leaguers and their families.
Ennis’ parks are typically kept clean, but as long as there are litterbugs among us, it’s impossible to keep them spotless. We can all help with that effort, by cleaning up after ourselves when we visit the park and taking the extra step of picking up a little litter left by other less considerate park-goers.
Our city parks are true bright spots on Ennis’ landscape and we hope our readers will make it a point to get out and enjoy them this spring and summer.
