Consider changing the life of a child

This week a representative from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization visited members of the Kiwanis Club and impressed upon those present the importance of being a mentor to a child.
With about 1,000 children in the area needing the friendship of a big brother or sister, the importance of their mission is clear.
With a community as sincere and caring as Ennis, we know there will be many volunteers that step up to make a difference in the lives of children. The rewards for both parties involved are many, and the positive impact and influence on a child’s life is something they will stay with them forever.
There are many children in our community in need of good role models and we know there are just as many – or more – local adults who could serve admirably in that role.
The first step is to give the idea serious consideration and realize that such a small commitment of your time could have life-changing results for a local child.
Traditions start because someone passes along something special to another. Our hope is that many of our readers will start the tradition of being big supporters of the Big Brother/Big Sister program.
To become involved with the program, contact EISD Program Director Linda Pirtle at 972-875-9027.
