Republican Women to hold benefit

National party dignitary to speak at May 8 program
The Ellis County Republican Women (ECRW) is planning its spring fundraiser at the Midlothian Conference Center on May 8.
“Come join the Ellis County Republican Women for a time of inspiration and fellowship in this very critical election year,” ECRW’s Ellen Miller said.
The event, to be held at 1 Community Circle, Midlothian, will present Shannon F. Reeves as speaker for the evening.
Reeves is National Director of State and Local Development for the Republican National Committee. He serves as liaison between state, county and local Republican organizations on candidate support, professional development and strategic positioning of the party’s efforts in local communities. He is also the party’s leading expert on African American voting trends, demographic changes and community constituencies.
As former secretary of the California Republican Party, Reeves served as the highest-ranking African-American party official elected in the state. He said he has a conservative message of personal responsibility that has been delivered around the country, winning him the nickname “Mr. No More Excuses.”
Reeves has served on numerous boards including the California Republican Party, the National Black Chamber of Commerce, the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Convenience Stores PAC and the California Beverage Merchants.
Reeves is a 1991 graduate of Grambling State University of Louisiana and is a life member of that school’s alumni association. He is a Pentecostal minister in training and is married with three children. He resides in the DFW-Metroplex.
The Republican Women’s May 8 fundraiser will feature a silent auction with box supper and delicious desserts provided by ECRW members. Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased from group members. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with time to preview auction items before the program.
Proceeds from the dinner benefit The Dictionary Project and the Inez Lewis Scholarship Fund as well as provide support for the group’s local, state and national Republican Candidates.
Ellis County Republican Women ask that those interested reserve their seats by May 5 by contacting Ellen Miller at 972-872-9133 or Tommie Worthy at 972-627-3447. Tables for eight are available.
