Prayers for future of St. John School

The situation facing St. John Catholic School is one we hope isn’t as dire as some seem to fear.
The school has been a mainstay of local educational and cultural life since 1911; even now the facility offers the only high school classes of any Catholic school in the region. That alone should stand the campus in good stead.
The Ennis Daily News wants to commend the students, teachers and parents who have endured the worry over their school throughout the last year for their commitment to and diligence in raising money to aid St. John.
We also want to extend our best wishes to them as they prepare for this evening’s meeting to determine what may be in store for the school.
The issue is one that affects not only St. John Catholic Church parishioners but those of other denominations who attend or teach classes at its award-winning, long cherished school.
We echo the thoughts of guest columnist Carol Grey Honza who wrote in the EDN on Tuesday that her “sincere prayers go upward.”
