Thanks for another great Polka Fest

The long Memorial Day Weekend is over and another busy Polka Festival has come and gone.
Each year thousands of people flock to Ennis to celebrate our Czech heritage and the Polka music that is such a big part of it. Rain or shine, the event marks the busiest weekend on the local calendar and shines the spotlight on our hometown and all it has to offer.
Fortunately, we were blessed with clear skies this year and the crowds that packed the downtown area over the weekend testified to the success of this year’s National Polka Festival. From the revived Polka Run sponsored by the Rotary Club, to the downtown parade and live music at the local halls in the evening, the Polka Festival offers something for everyone and is a real source of pride for the folks who are fortunate enough to call this community home.
This huge event doesn’t happen all by itself, but instead is the result of plannning, preparation and lots of hard work. We invite our readers to join us in thanking the people who put forth so much effort to make the National Polka Festival a success. Many of their efforts take place behind the scenes and it would be a shame for them to go unrecognized.
From the Polka Festival committee members, to the many civic clubs and other local organizations who donate manpower and elbow grease, there are countless people who each play a role in making Memorial Day Weekend special for this community. It’s impossible to name them all here, but each of us can extend our personal thanks to individuals we know who help to make it happen.
We thank those who work so hard and we hope that each year, more and more will get involved to ensure the National Polka Festival gets bigger and better each year.
