Stabbing hospitalizes 2 in Wed. altercation

Ennis police arrested Jacqueline Jones, 35, of Ennis on aggravated assault with a weapon following a fight that resulted in two men being stabbed in the 500 block of E. Lake Street Wednesday.
According to Det. Lt. Ron Roark, at 7:47 p.m. Ennis police received a call of a fight at the East Lake Apartments. Officers found a group at the complex’s basketball court and dispersed the crowd.
Roark said then at 9:27 p.m. 9-1-1 calls were received in reference to a stabbing at the same location. When police arrived witnesses claimed one of the victims still had the knife stuck in the center of his back. When police made it to the man the knife was laying on the ground beneath the victim.
Daylyn Beasley, 17, and Michael Johnson, 28, were both stabbed in the back. Johnson was taken to Ennis Regional Medical Center for a minor wound, where he received stitches and was released. Beasley was transported to Parkland Hospital due to the severity of his wound. Roark said Beasley’s status was unknown at this time.
Witnesses identified Jones as the stabber and she was taken into custody at the scene. A $10,000 bond was set for her release.
Roark said the weapon was recovered and is being sent to Dallas for DNA testing to be done.
