United Way to roast Raymond Caldwell – Hawaiian style
Get out of those stuffy work clothes and come relax at a Hawaiian roast where instead of a whole pig on a skewer, Raymond Caldwell will be on the hot seat.
According to United Way board member Jane Mize, the Fourth Annual Greater Ennis United Way Celebrity Roast, honoring Caldwell, is a casual event that is Hawaiian themed. The event is a fund-raiser held each year to raise money to help offset the administrative expenses for the Greater Ennis United Way.
“It keeps growing each year and hopefully we will reach the day that enough is raised so that every penny of every dollar can go to one of the United Way’s agencies,” said Mize.
Tickets are $75 per person and $150 for a couple. Sponsors can purchase a 10-seat table for $1,000. Tickets are available at Allen Samuels Autoplex, Arden Insurance, Ennis State Bank, Prosperity Bank and through Mize at Ennis Regional Medical Center.
Mize said she hopes the event can clear $20,000. Last year there were approximately 250 people in attendance to roast Bramlet Beard.
The roast will be held Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
“It’s going to be a blast,” said Mize.
