Ennis schools earn high marks from state coalition

The Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) has announced that three Ennis schools are among the 298 public schools it will recognize for outstanding academic achievement this year.
Austin Elementary, Bowie Elementary and Houston Elementary were each named among the nearly 300 public campuses as academically superior.
The TBEC will acknowledge these exceptional schools at its 9th Annual Honor Roll Schools Celebration on Nov. 10 at the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio.
The award was established in 2000 to draw attention to public schools that perform at the highest levels. Being named a TBEC Honor Roll school is one of the most prestigious academic award a Texas public school can receive. Schools do not apply for recognition as a TBEC Honor Roll school. Instead it is earned based strictly on academic performance.
The TBEC Honor Roll schools have demonstrated three or more consecutive years of high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations. In addition to having a high percentage of students meeting state standards on all tests, the TBEC Honor Roll schools also have the highest percentage of students performing at the state’s most rigorous standard commended on all tests.
Another school in Ellis County to receive this high honor included Turner Middle School in Waxahachie.
This year’s Honor Roll Celebration will include a half-day of seminars for attendees followed by a reception at 6 p.m. and the awards dinner at 7 p.m. Individuals or organizations wanting information on sponsorship availability or tickets should contact the TBEC at 512-480-8232.
