Main St. springs leak

Southwest Main Street in Ennis was blocked off from Ennis Avenue to Brown Street Monday so city crews could fix a broken water main near the Ennis Avenue intersection.
City Manager Steve Howerton said the fracture was most likely a stress break from ground movement. H & H Gifts and Florist was left without water due to the break.
“Unfortunately that main is in a bad spot,” Howerton said.
The repair work caused one of the Ennis Avenue westbound lanes to be closed off and the entire block of SW. Main Street to be barricaded until about 6 p.m., when the road was partially opened to allow vehicles to pass through. Howerton said it would be a few days before the city could permanently patch the area.
