A special day for a special man

We expect it to be a blessed affair this Sunday as friends and family of A.A. “Rue” Davis honor the man’s memory at a special ceremony dedicating a plaque for a bell cot at St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Ennis.
This will be the second memorial service in Davis’ honor from the church. The bell cot, located on the north side of the church building, was originally dedicated to Davis a year ago.
Davis is the late husband of Anna Lee Davis, who many probably know from the beautiful music she made on the piano at special events and as a piano teacher to several little boys and girls in Ennis.
Although we aren’t familiar with Rue Davis or the apparently large impact he had on the lives of many in this city, the continued devotion of those close to him is a joyous thing to hear about. We are pleased to know that the congregation of St. Thomas Episcopal Church is selflesssly stepping up to honor one of its own with a special ceremony.
If Davis’ wife is any kind of testament to the kind of person he was, then Rue must have been a kind, generous person who had a great love for his friends and his community. With so many people rallying together to dedicate a plaque on a bell cot for the man, that should indicate what kind of a special person he really was and the tremendous impact he has had in Ennis.
The special event will be Sunday, Nov. 2, immediately following the 10 a.m. service. We hope the event is as extraordinary as Rue Davis seemed to be.
