The spirit of the holiday is live

With Thanksgiving only days away the Ennis Christian Ministers Association is planning an event for tonight to draw the whole community in and offer a way to give to those in need while renewing the spirit of those in attendance.
The group will be holding a communitywide Thanksgiving service at Tabernacle Baptist Church beginning at 6 p.m. and they’re asking those planning to attend to bring non-perishable goods for Helping Hands of Ennis and/or diapers for the Ellis County Women’s Resource Center. The group will also be taking an offering at the end of the service with donations to help with future community events.
We think the service is a wonderful example of a group of people looking past the differences of their own beliefs and ideals to work together for the greater good of the people they will help with their service. Their efforts will not only benefit the organizations they donate to, but the community members who attend.
With Thanksgiving days away, the holiday season is officially upon us and while we tend to our families and loved ones it is important to remember those who need a little help this year to get by and be able to provide for their families. The generosity of the Ennis community is legendary. We are blessed to have the opportunity to spotlight it week after week with stories of people that came together to help their neighbors because there was a need and we hope the community comes together to support the efforts of the Ennis Christian Ministers Association.
Even if those in attendance are not able to donate to the charities, it will still be a wonderful opportunity to come together with other members of the community and remember personal blessings and give thanks.
The Ministers Association members have put a lot of effort into offering the opportunity for community members to participate in a non-denominational service and we hope the community supports the group and their efforts to remind us that Thanksgiving is not just about turkey and pumpkin pie.
