Sexual assault charges filed

An Ennis man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault regarding an incident involving an 8-year-old girl, according to Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson.
Quincy Jones, 24, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon on a warrant for his arrest that was issued following a report filed against him on Nov. 20. Hopson said at approximately 8 p.m., Corporal David Dodd was dispatched to Ennis Regional Medical Center where the female victim was being checked for a sexual assault that had taken place. Dodd spoke with the mother of the victim, who claimed Jones had sexually attacked her daughter, who was known by Jones.
Det. Sgt. Mark Mahoney was assigned to the case and implemented forensic interviewing, which led to a warrant being issued for Jones’ arrest. The warrant was acted upon when Sunday at 2:10 p.m. officers Jeff Bates and Alan Eddins observed a male matching the description of Jones walking in the parking lot of 700 E. Ennis Avenue. The officers approached the man and identified him as Jones, who was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Ennis jail without further incident.
A $20,000 bond was set for Jones’ release.
