County sets agenda for special meeting

The Ellis County Commissioners’ Court will face a short agenda when they convene for a special meeting at 8:30 a.m., Friday, March 20.
The Commissioners will recess from the regular session to convene into an executive session to deliberate the appointment of a new county judge to fill the unexpired term of County Judge Chad Adams. Adams announced his resignation from the office of County Judge at the March 9 meeting of the Ellis County Commissioners’ Court. His resignation will be effective April 1.
The Commissioners will also consider and possibly take action to rescind the Ellis County burn ban. Ellis County Fire Marshal Investigator Jim Pharr will present the item. A burn ban for Ellis County has been in effect since January 26, because of dry conditions. Over two-thirds of the counties in Texas currently have burn bans in effect.
The Commissioners will consider and possibly take action on applying for Recovery Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding of $76,950 over a four-year period, to be used in law enforcement. Mike Navarro, County Auditor, will present the item.
The Commissioners Court reserves the right to consider and take action on the above agenda items in any particular order. Anyone wishing to address the Commissioners Court concerning a posted agenda item must make a formal request by presenting a “Participation Form” to the County Clerk at least 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the meeting.
If you or your representative have a disability that requires special arrangements and you plan to attend this public meeting, please contact the County Judge’s Office at 972-825-5011 within 72 hours of the meeting. Reasonable accommodations will be made to meet your needs.
