Relay teams plan sale

With the rising price of everyday items, most people are looking for a bargain whether it’s in the form of collecting coupons or shopping a garage sale. Local teams with the Ennis Relay for Life are ready to help all of the bargain hunters find the items they need at prices that everyone can afford.
More than 16 relay teams have signed up to take part in the first ever community garage sale to be hosted at the Knights of Columbus Hall (850 S. I-45) on March 29 from noon – 4 p.m.
Event organizer and Ennis Relay for Life committee member Jessica Diaz said she is excited about the event because all of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
“The idea for the garage sale was something I had heard of while I attended a Relay for Life planning session in the Metroplex and those who had tried said it worked well,” she said. “I am excited to take that idea and make it work for the Ennis Relay teams and with the interest we have had so far, I think the event will really go over well. I hope everyone comes out to see what treasures they can find because all of the money raised will go toward research that will hopefully help the American Cancer Society come closer to finding a cure for cancer.”
With people in the community taking part in the event Diaz says she has been overwhelmed by the kindness of so many people including the members of the KC Hall who have agreed to let the teams use the inside of the hall to host the event.
“It is evident that so many people have had their lives touched by cancer because they are so willing to get involved with the project,” she said. “We are especially grateful to the members of the KC Hall who have graciously let us use their facilities at no charge. This means that even if the weather is bad, the event can still go on and that there will be plenty of parking for everyone and we are glad to be able to accommodate those wishing to take part in the event.”
As far as items available for purchase at the sale, Diaz say she’s confident there will be a bit of something for everyone.
“As far as I know no one is planning anything out of the ordinary, but with this many people taking part in the event and so many people donating items to be sold, I am sure there will be something for just about anyone,” she said. “I hope everyone marks their calendars and makes plans to join us on March 29, because not only will it be a lot of fun the whole family can enjoy, the proceeds raised are going to a very worthwhile cause.”
