Confession leads to arrest

A guilty conscience may have led Jaime Gamon, a 26-year-old Ennis resident, to confess to the mother of a 14-year-old girl that he had previous sexual contact with the girl, according to Det. Sgt. Mark Mahoney.
Charged with sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child – sexual assault, Gamon told the mother that on March 28 between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. he had inappropriately attacked the teenage girl. Mahoney said Gamon told the mother he had made a mistake, possibly feeling guilty for what he had done.
“This is a first for me,” Mahoney said in regard to a sexual assault suspect confession to his crime to the parent of his victim.
The mother in turn told police what had taken place and Gamon was arrested on Friday.
Gamon is facing a duo of felony charges and was given a $25,000 bond for his release. Mahoney said he was transported to the Ellis County Detention Center, where he is still being held.
