School times to change

To accommodate a new bus schedule, start and dismissal times at schools in Ennis ISD will be changed, said Ennis ISD spokesman Henry Martinez.
The adjustments in start and dismissal times are required because of changes to the district’s school bus operations. The district has changed the school bus system from a parade system to a two-tier system.
“The changes are designed to make school transportation more efficient and cost effective,” Martinez said.
“The whole point of doing this is for students not to be picked up as early or stay on the bus as late as they do now.”
In a parade system, school buses will pick up both elementary and secondary students, and then go to each school to drop them off.
When the school day is over, buses will pick up students at all of the schools and then drop them off at their homes. In this system, students can be on buses for long periods, Martinez said.
In a two-tier system, all of the elementary and Sixth Grade Center students will be picked up from their homes and dropped off at the elementary schools and Sixth Grade Center. Then, the buses will go back out into the community to pick up Ennis Junior High and High School students at then drop them off at EJHS and EHS.
